- Macarena Style:
- ---------------------------------------------------------------
- This is a second version, with quantised bass track from Mark
- Robson, key change to G#, drum note changes to match korg's
- recommendations on which notes to use for kick and snare, higher
- velocities in perc tracks, arrangements with kbd2 turned off. Note
- retrigger for ACC3 is turned on (prevents losing first chord on
- changes from var3 to var1). All in all though, you probably won't
- hear a big difference between this and previous versions.
-
- This archive includes all the files for an automatic "all data" load
- of "Macarena". This is my first attempt at writing a style (any
- suggestions/improvements are welcome.) There is only one style in
- the .sty file and its called Macarena. None of the rom based style
- info is used or copied into Macarena, its all new data, no patterns
- are used either. Many parts were cut & pasted from a macarena midi
- file (saves lots of time). The normal element length is 4 measures,
- with fill1 being 1 measure, fill2 being 2 measures, and the ending
- (end1) being 5 measures. The .pcg file is basically just the
- dance1.pcg.
-
- I have made a short backing sequence to illustrate the use of the
- styles -- it is not a measure by measure copy of the Macarena song
- itself, but is very similar. There are 3 arrangements using the
- Macarena style, Macarena 1, 2, and 3. (I may have gotten a little
- carried away with the arrangements.) The first is as close to the
- standard song as I could make it, the second gets a little wilder,
- and the third is, well, a psycho version. After listening for 10
- minutes though, you may be ready for the psycho version. One
- warning, don't change chords in the psycho arrangement or the drums
- will will be unpredictable. (I assigned a drum kit to ACC2 which
- gets translated with chord changes.)
-
- There is only one chord in the song, ** A flat **. Just enter that
- chord, and turn off chord scanning when using arrangement play. The
- key is now ** A flat ** also. The intent with the arrangements was
- to switch between them with a smooth transition while playing
- (working from 1 to 2, to 3 as the song progresses). You can do this
- if you hit the arrangement select button about mid measure in the
- song. If hit later it hesitates before switching arrangements.

- Ambient Style: (Use Arrangement 14)
- ---------------------------------------------------------------------
- This style is patterned after Korg's "Ambient" song in the Dance.zip
- archive. This style contains imbedded program changes so read
- carefully before playing it. All the imbedded changes are in ACC2
- and ACC3 so generally the other track's programs can be changed as
- normal. Styles normally do not use imbedded program changes but in
- order to get all the sound effects in, it was necessary to change
- the programs "on the fly" between variations, and fills. Always
- change variations on the measure (four light beat) and you will get
- the best results. A short backing sequence is included (Bseq1) to
- give a quick idea of how the style sounds. I don't know how the i4
- and i5 will react to this type of style.
-
- Var1: Only change on four measure intervals (this element has an A
- and G against an A bass line. You can experiment, but it
- seems best to let it go 4 measures at a time.
-
- Var2: Workhorse variation. Change on 1,2, or 4 measures.
-
- Var3: Bells added -- change on 1,2, or 4 measure intervals
-
- Var4: Same as 3 but with drum map 6.
-
- Fill1: One measure, uses Jackslide transition back to Var1-4
-
- Fill2: Two Measure, uses Pan Flute transition back to Var1-4.
-
- End1: Basically Var1 with ending.
-
- When you play this style, monitor the second page of the arrangement
- screen and you can see the program assignments change as you play.
- It may take some experimenting to get used to when to hit the var
- change buttons.
